Creating an Effective HR Strategy
Having defined your business goals you need to take the thinking to the next level to consider how you are going to achieve what you are setting out to achieve. There’ll be marketing activity you need to undertake, maybe launching new products and services, and potentially changes to your behind-the-scenes operations. You’ll need an HR Strategy to help you make sure that you’ve thought through what you need from your team.
Your HR strategy will help you to consider the following key questions:
- What skills do you need the team to have?
- How are you going to attract the talent that you need to reach your goals?
- How are you going to motivate your employees to do what you need them to do?
- How are you going to reward them?
It’s difficult to oversell the value that an effective HR strategy can deliver. It sounds so “consultancy” as a term which can put some people off but you will really struggle to meet your business goals unless you think through what you need from a people perspective.
One caveat here, you can’t put an HR strategy in place without an overall business strategy. You need to know where you’re going before we can help you work out how you’re going to get there!

How We Can Help
We have a number of different tools we can use to help you define your HR strategy and we also like to make sure that you have a 12-month plan that will help you turn that strategy into a reality.
We’ll start with the “what”. We’ll pose a number of key questions to you and then challenge your assumptions to make sure that what you’re looking to do is both realistic and actually helps you to move forward.
Then, once we’ve helped you to define what you want to do we’ll work with you to define the “how”. Most of our clients have a tendency to try to take on way too much at once and, so as to avoid falling into that trap, we’ll work with you to define your ‘vital few’. We’ll get you to consider the things that you absolutely must do in order to achieve your goals, and prioritise those to make best use of the time available.
We’ll then create an actionable and practical strategy with clear visual representation of where you’re going. You won’t have to wade through pages and pages of documentation, rather you’ll have a one-page view of what you’ve said you’ll do and by when.
Our service fees range from:
- £110 per hour for offsite support (phone and email)
- £140 per hour for onsite support (face to face at your offices and other locations)
We’ll speak with you to understand the situation you are looking to manage and the level of support you require. We’ll then give you an estimate of the number of hours we expect the matter to take.
Of course, it’s always difficult to be completely accurate so we will agree any work before it is performed and keep you updated on the costs as they accrue.
Notes: All prices exclude VAT. For new customers, we will ask for an initial payment before we start working with you; minimum payment 1 hour offsite support.
