Ensuring you have an Effective Employment Contract

An employment contract should be designed to meet your legal obligations and the needs of your business. After all, if your business is simple, you don’t want a complex contract covering areas such as intellectual property and non-compete conditions. But if you’re business is based on technology or designing new products, these elements may be essential.

So we’ll work with you to understand more about your business and from there make sure you have employment documents that work for your business.

If you already have documentation in place then we can review and update what you're currently using. Alternatively we can provide you with new documentation that covers everything you need.

No matter what your employment contract requirements are, we’ll work with you to understand and meet them.

Employment Contract: Review and Update

If you already have an employment contract in place, we'll review and update it to bring it in line with current statutory obligations or best practice.

Note: the review is free and non-obligatory.

If you already have an employment contract in place, you won’t want to change it unless you absolutely have to.

Therefore, we'll start by providing a complimentary review of your existing employment contract.

During this review, we’ll work with you to find out more about your business, and offer insight into areas you should be looking to cover.  We’ll then let you know if there are areas which we think you would be wise to address, both mandatory and optional, as well as any specific requirements to implement the changes.

From this, we'll update the documents, review them with you and then support the roll-out to your staff.

Service Key Features

  • Complimentary review of your existing contract by an experienced HR professional.
  • Presentation of any areas that should be updated and the process for implementation.
  • Provision of a contract that protects your business, is legally compliant and meets your legal obligations as an employer.
  • The work can be performed either onsite, offsite (by phone and email) or a bit of both.

Pricing

The contract review is free and non-obligatory.

After the contract review, we'll then give you an estimate of the number of hours we expect the matter to take.

Our services are from:

  • £95 per hour for offsite support (phone and email)
  • £120 per hour for onsite work

depending on the work required. We will agree any work before it is performed and keep you updated on the costs as they accrue.

Note: For new clients, we may request a percentage of the fees up front.

Refer to our pricing page for more information.

Employment Contract: Starting from Scratch

For businesses which have no employment contract in place, or if the existing one isn't up to the task, we will provide you with an appropriate contract that meets the needs of the business.

The employment contract may be one of two types:

  • If you're business is fairly simple then you're likely to just need a basic Written Particulars in order to meet your legal obligations.
  • If you need something that offers more protection then you're likely to want a full Employment Contract.

Based on the information you provide, we can agree the best option for your business.

When we say that we'll work with you to understand more about your business please don't panic and think this is going to take up hours of your time.  We have a short questionnaire which we’ll ask you to complete from which we can determine the best option.  We will then create a draft, review it with you to close down any remaining questions (either by phone or face-to-face), and then send you the finished document.

One key element is the roll-out of the employment contract to your staff.  How complex a process this is will depend entirely on the scale of the changes that you're making to the terms and conditions.  During our discussions, we will advise you on best implementation approach and work with you to determine how much of our support you are likely to need.  This may sound a little vague but changing terms and conditions can be quite complex and trying to get into the detail on a website could lead this to being the longest page ever created!  But be confident that we've done lots of contract roll-outs and we'll guide you through the process.

Service Key Features

  • Provision of a contract that protects your business, is legally compliant and meets your legal obligations as an employer.
  • An efficient process that means you can have your new contract rolled-out quickly and easily.
  • The work can be performed either onsite, offsite (by phone and email) or a bit of both.

Of course, it's always difficult to be completely accurate as you never know what's going to happen when people are involved.  We will agree any work before it is performed and keep you updated on the costs as they accrue.
